100 Happy Days - Day 100! Tapas Night

Hey guys! So I finally completed the 100 Happy Days challenge! :D I can't believe how fast the time has gone - I really enjoyed doing this and I would recommend it to anyone. Most of the time I found it easy to think of something happy for that day but there were times when it was more of a challenge! But that just gave me a reason to look for the happy part of my day which I otherwise wouldn't have done. It made me realise how truly lucky and blessed I am. I think social media gets a really hard time for giving people unrealistic expectations of what their life should look like, for bragging and for making us feel inadequate to others who appear to be richer, prettier, skinnier, happier than we are. However, I think there is a flip side to social media and the 100 happy days challenge is a good example of how sharing apps like Instagram can actually make us feel better about ourselves and appreciate the little things that make our lives amazing. In all my 24 years of wisdom I don't claim to know it all by any means but if I've learned anything growing up, it's that the only way to be happy is just to do that! Be happy! Sounds obvious and cheesy but it really is the best philosophy. We spend far too long worrying and obsessing and comparing our lives to get on with living them! Good things are happening, here , right now! If we don't enjoy them they'll pass us by.

I'm feeling really glad that I completed this challenge but I don't want the positivity to end there! Sometimes it's hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel and you wonder if you're ever going to get to where you want to go- the truth is you can't really know for sure! The future will take care of itself, that's for certain. Planning is good and ambition is good, but it's important not to let it take you over so much that you forget to notice what's going on round about you: the powerful clouds of a summer sunset, making someone you care about laugh, just spending time doing the things you love.

Outfit of the day: h&m top and shorts!

I'm going to stop rambling on about that now! Tonight I went to La Tasca for dinner and had amaaaazing tapas and sangria. And got 2 for 1 with my Tastecard! Best thing ever. Now I'm totally stuffed and about to turn in for the night. Look out for a post on my make up  collection and storage featuring my newly built ikea cabinet!!

Built alllll by myself! (Almost)

Lactose Free For a Week?! Challenge - Day 1

Hi guys. So I've decided I'm going to attempt to cut out or really limit my dairy intake for this week -and convert my milk to soy milk. At the moment I only take semi-skimmed milk in my cereal, tea and coffee. I've been having long term problems with my stomach and digestion and recently I've been wondering if it might be down to an intolerance to dairy products or perhaps just to the milk. So, I'm going to try and do this challenge for a week or perhaps longer and see if my body feels any different! I've heard it's healthy to give yourself a break from dairy once in a while anyway, so it can't be a bad thing! I eat quite a lot of yoghurt so I'll try to limit that this week. I don't really eat butter, or cheese. Milk will be the biggest change- I'm hoping to feel better by the end of the week! Wish me luck!

New Summer Clothes Haul!

Hey everyone! So I've been feeling a bit "spendy" recently - inspired by the lovely Amelia Liana ! I've been picking up quite a few pieces and building up my Summer wardrobe! I had a masssssive wardrobe clear out a few weeks ago and got rid of more than half of my clothes, so it feels nice to have everything more stripped down and minimalist. I feel like as I'm getting older my style is growing up too - I like staple, basic pieces that I can team with lots of other items and create chic outfits easily that are quick to put together but look like a lot of thought has gone into them. Since it's Summer now I've been wanting to introduce a bit more white into my wardrobe - so I picked up these cute shorts or "skorts" from F&F at Tesco:

They were such a steal at only £16 - I feel like the cut of them makes them dressy but they could also be worn with a cute cami top on a sunny day for a more casual outfit. I think skorts are so flattering and I love the look of them! I also picked up this cute pair from Primark:

Best bargain ever- only £7 for these!  I couldn't believe it when I found them - I think they look like something from Topshop or Zara- the print is absolutely gorgeous and the lightweight material makes them perfect for those hot summer days!

Speaking of which, I couldn't resist this cute and flirty little dress from Forever 21! It has cut out sleeves which show off your shoulders in the most flattering way- and the floral print is so eye catching! It's a bit short so I may have to wear shorts underneath - or maybe over a bikini on holiday! I love Forever 21 - they have so many gorgeous Summer pieces at the moment! I can't wait to go back and have another browse.

I recently watched a haul video by the beautiful and super stylish Barbara (ThePersianbabe) where she showed this adorable little smock dress from H&M! It's so pretty and I've been looking for something just like it - which is why I knew I had to go out and track it down right away! Especially since it was only £5.99! You just can't argue with bargainous H&M finds!

Another absolute bargain was this gorgeous, dusky pink backless dress from Zara! I was looking for an outfit to wear on a girls' night out on Saturday and this totally fit the bill! I would have payed full price for this baby so I had a mini stroke when I read that it was down in the sale to just £17.99! I love Zara's sale- they always do such good reductions on so many excellent items!

I paired the dress with these nude and rose gold pumps from F&F at Tesco (where I work) They were originally just £20 but I snapped them up when they went down to £10 in the sale! Just madness. They look so chic, will go with everything, will be perfect all year round and I wore them out all night dancing and my feet didn't get sore! Such a win all round.

Here's a photo of what the dress and the shoes look like on:

Finally, I snapped up these little darlings from a recent trip to Primark. They are the perfect white Summer sandals- not too high a wedge, feminine and girly with a bit of an edge. I've been looking for something like this for a while and was so happy to find them in Primark! They were only £10, and I can tell I'm going to get a lot of wear out of them.

That's it for my haul guys! Check back soon for a lookbook styling these items :)

Summer Adventures!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been blogging in a while! I just wanted to share with you some photos of my recent adventures. My friend Keara's Maid Cafe at the Geek Retreat was such a cute experience- a taste of Kawaii Japan! We got to drink milkshakes, eat macaroons and play card games! The West End Festival in Glasgow was amazing, such a good day out! There was an awesome parade all the way down Byres Road which featured everything from a giant Octopus creature to carnival dancers and it was so fun to watch! There was live music and stalls all through Kelvingrove Park (the food smelled amaaaazing) and Ashton Lane was a buzz with BBQs and chilled summer vibes! I had such a lovely time.

I've been loving the summer weather recently! Edinburgh looked so beautiful in the sunshine when I visited last week. And today I took a trip to the coast - to the fun seaside town of Largs, and also the castle at Portencross which is so beautiful. It's days like this that make me so thankful  to live in such a diverse and gorgeous country as Scotland. So proud!

I can't wait for more Summer adventures! What are your favourite things about Summertime? I love wearing skirts and dresses and sandals, the smell of candy floss and ice cream, the vast clear blue skies and the way that the days feel like they last forever!

Thanks for reading, soon to come will be a haul and a summer lookbook!
